About Me
Born in Budapest, Hungary, I embarked on a life-changing journey to the United States at the age of 20. I earned my Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Washington, followed by a Master's and Ph.D. in Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in San Diego.
Psychology captivated me from the start, particularly the intricate theories of the mind and human behavior. Over time, my passion for psychology deepened as I observed its transformative power when applied with thoughtfulness and genuine compassion. Today, my commitment to the field is fueled by its profound ability to help people make meaningful changes in their lives.
Building a Foundation of Compassionate, Informed Care
Since starting my practice in 1987, I've worked across diverse clinical settings, supporting individuals from all backgrounds as they navigate emotional pain and complex personal struggles. Early in my career in San Diego, I received specialized training in anger management and worked with individuals mandated to attend therapy for domestic violence. I also supported women and children recovering from the trauma of physical and emotional abuse.
The Power of a Trusting Therapeutic Relationship
At the heart of my practice is the creation of a safe and nurturing environment. I aim to make clients feel secure enough to explore the deepest parts of themselves. True progress hinges on this sense of safety, and it's vital to build a trusting therapist-client relationship grounded in empathy and respect. This trust empowers clients to fully engage in the therapeutic process, leading to meaningful and lasting changes in their lives.
Combining Warmth with Candid Feedback
While clients frequently describe me as approachable, warm, and empathetic—a compliment I deeply value—I also prioritize being direct and challenging when necessary. I'm not afraid to offer blunt perspectives when needed. This honest and straightforward approach helps clients see their situations from new angles and enables meaningful, transformative change, something they often appreciate.
